Rowdy 6.0 Rowdy 6.0

Take a look at Rowdy Pete 6.0, our wonderful robot for the 2005 season of FIRST. Rowdy 6.0 was designed to play the 2005 game, "Triple Play."

Features


Drivetrain:

  • Combination of 2 Fisher Prices and 4 CIMS.
  • Speed of 7.5 feet per second
  • Powerful
  • Best of both worlds, speed and power
  • Gear Ratio: 14.28

Frame:

  • 38 inches by 28 inches
  • Welded 1-inch box aluminum

Tetrahedron Manipulator:

  • Nicknamed the "Tetra-eater-eater" or the "Dragon"
  • Clamp actuated by a pneumatic piston
  • The fifth manipulator used in competitions

Arm:

  • A 4x4 lower base with a 3x3 upper arm
  • A titanium hollow tube with a manipulator attached to the end
  • The tube is actuated by a window motor
  • The tube is regulated by two limit switches that stop it from overextending
  • The arm is moved up and down by a Van Door motor with a 5 to 1 gear ratio from the motor to the arm

Electronics and pneumatics:

  • 8 Victor 884's (6 for the drive train and 2 for the arm).
  • A robot reset and program button
  • Gyroscope and rotary encoder navigation

Controls:

  • 2 normal flight joysticks for "car drive"(one for each side of the drive train)
  • A Potentiometer which corresponds with another potentiometer on the arm
  • An On-Off-On switch which moves the arm; [In] - [stopped] - [Out]

Decorations:

  • Frame is spraypainted black and the arm is painted gold.
  • Decals and team numbers will be on the Lexan shields for the base of the robot.
